Field work in NY!

I recently wrapped up field work in Huntington Wildlife Forest (Newcomb, NY) in the Adirondack Mountains. I spent the first and second year of my PhD focused there - establishing plots, sampling and doing my experiment. The forests here in NY are so different from WA forests, beautiful in their own way.

In my third year, I will be duplicating what I did at Huntington at Heiberg Memorial Forest (Tully, NY). Like my experiment at Huntington, this one will take a full year to complete. Ecology is a very time consuming science! I’ll be back at the lab processing soils, roots and other things, in the meantime, and literally waiting for fungal mycelium to grow.
